First Ark Group has been recognised for making an outstanding contribution to communities across Knowsley over the past 12 months.
The group, which includes Knowsley Housing Trust, received the Corporate and Social Responsibility Award at the annual Knowsley Business Awards which are run by Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council. The glittering awards ceremony took place at the Grand Marquee in the grounds of Knowsley Safari Park on Thursday 28th November with an audience of over 600 attendees from Knowsley and beyond all gathered to celebrate business and regeneration success.
Judges praised the First Ark approach to Corporate Social Responsibility highlighting the inspirational work it does to support its tenants, community groups, voluntary organisations and social enterprises.
“These awards really showcase the brilliant work that is happening across Knowsley and we are thrilled to have been chosen as a winner for our part in supporting the community.
“We have a dedicated team solely focussed on challenging social issues for our tenants and working with tenants and partners to create communities people are proud to live in.”
Through its work in the community First Ark has helped 30 new businesses to start up, supported 216 young people onto an employment, education and training programme, recruited 26 apprentices and supported Knowsley Foodbank to feed 2,900 people.
The group also runs a staff volunteering policy which has seen 150 staff spend 1,700 hours volunteering on projects across Knowsley over the past 12 year, said Bob Taylor, Chief Executive, First Ark Group.
